  • The physical exam and the evaluation of the 11-month- old was unremarkable.
  • The physical exam of the 21-day-old was unremarkable, while the evaluation revealed
    • Skeletal survey :
      • a healing fracture of the right clavicle
      • bilateral distal tibial metaphyseal fractures
      • left sided parietal skull fracture
    • Brain MRI :
      • + small foci of parenchymal hemorrhage in the left parietal, left temporal and left occipital lobes
      • small areas of subarachnoid hemorrhage in the same region with associated vasogenic edema
    • Dilated ophthalmologic :
      • exam was negative

Returning to our case. The physical exam and the assessment findings are as follows: The physical exam and the evaluation of the 11-month-old was unremarkable. The physical exam of the 21-day-old was unremarkable. However, the skeletal survey revealed the following: a healing fracture to the right clavicle, bilateral distal tibial metaphyseal fractures, left parietal skull fracture. The brain MRI revealed: a small foci of parenchymal hemorrhage to the left parietal, left temporal and left occipital lobes; small areas of subarachnoid hemorrhage in the same region with associated vasogenic edema. The dilated ophthalmologic exam was negative.
