The Review/Confirm phase is to confirm whether there are non-accidental injuries or substantial physical neglect. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians are involved, including a child abuse pediatrician, possibly a pediatric emergency medicine provider, radiologist, neuroradiologist, ophthalmologist, and other subspecialists as indicated, as well as nurses and social workers.
In the Plan of Management in this interprofessional collaboration, there's always a collaborative treatment for injuries, for neglect, which includes mental health providers as well as child life professionals as indicated.
In the Concern phase, the interdisciplinary team identifies if there are additional medical problems of which CPS or other interprofessional agencies are unaware. During this phase, screening for social determinants of health is a key focus to identify risk factors, as well as protective factors that can further be explored or supported by resources from CPS or other agencies.
